Hubbub UK

Taking a whole catchment approach, RSPB, United Utilities(UU), the Environment Agency(EA) and Natural England(NE) have delivered projects in Swindale Valley which demonstrate how land and water management can enhance natural processes and be successfully integrated with farming and provision of public water supply. Our projects included re-designing the water intake and fish pass enabling salmon to migrate upstream to the improved habitat of the re-meandered, slower flowing river reach to spawn. We re-wetted 1,000ha of bog, planted 40,000 trees, restored 15ha of species-rich hay meadows, created new access and interpretation for visitors and are running successful demonstration and media visits.
